Week 16 of the Crypto Faucet Experiment

Can you still make money claiming from crytpo faucets? This experiment will try to answer that question, here is my 16th week of data analysis for my crypto faucet experiment. I started this because of typical FOMO,(if only I had started this, 6 months ago, a year ago it could be worth X). This is not your typical faucet post with “check out this faucet” (affiliate link). While these are my affiliate links, you will also see my transparency in reporting.

TL/DR: Lifetime Value: $27.55 (Up $7.96 from Week 15)— Over 6,300+ claims $19.36. 95.5% of earnings are from my actions, 4.5% are from referral claims.

Week 15 – Over 375+ claims for a total of $1.93. 89% of earnings (308 claims) are from my actions, 11% (67+) are from referral claims.

Week 16 Breakdown

Its been a bumpy ride, some days are great for claiming, while others I hardly have time to get in 1 or 2 a day to keep my loyalty bonus climbing. Here is what my weekly claim activity looks like.

And there is the 2 week intra week for week 16. I have wild swings from day to day. You can see that huge spike is driven by the BTC crash and my hyper focus on Bonus Bitcoin faucet. I got as much as I could that day.

Here is a quick breakdown by coins and value for the month.

Coin Amt Claimed Value
BTC .00032885 $1.08
BCH .00012189 $0.09
Dash .00067383 $0.14
Doge 67.63 $0.14
LTC .00281541 $0.15

There are 9 faucets I am using for this experiment, I only plan on adding more if CoinPot does. Honestly at this point it is hard to keep up with them all to maximize returns. Plus I start traveling for work, and I doubt airports and plane rides are conductive to reCaptcha.

Is it too late? Removing price volitility.

The graph below tries to remove the price volatility from my faucet claims results by using a static prices based on the price of the first day I started to claim from that faucet. That dip reset me to almost even, but it has climbed back to profit from the growing coin values. I love those dips to really crank up the facuet claims. They can be almost double on the dips.

Upcoming

I plan to move the remaining BTC balance out of Coinpot. I am going to keep the remaning coins in coinport until the reach a value of at least $5. Then I will either convert them to one currency, or move them to Coinbase as is. After the pump in Doge and LTC, I don’t have a good feeling either way in the short term.
I will keep building out my reporting spreadsheets to automate as much as I can, should allow more frequent and timely reporting.

Getting your coins!

None of this is worth doing, when if it comes time to collect your built up balances, only to find out you are unable to transfer. I chose to transfer 50k Satoshi to Coinbase since to avoid a transfer fee, and hold until I determin my long term goals. I am not sure if I want to keep each base coin I collect, or convert all into one coin for ease. In the coming weeks I will work though my options, but for now here is proof my transfer worked.

Mistakes

Well again, I had to learn the hard way that gambling is gambling. I was running HOT with Primedice until I was not. Since then, I havn’t put in the time to try to rebuild, eventually I will get back to it.

Is it too late? Removing price volitility.

The graph below tries to remove the price volatility from my faucet claims results by using a static prices based on the price of the first day I started to claim from that faucet.

Upcoming

I am going to move this to a weekly update in an attempt to keep the data updated more frequently. Coinpot has had some issues with my data, and honestly going back that far and cleansing is bit much. I hope it will be easier to keep updated more frequently.

Optimized Savings January Update

January was good month for finding discounts and savings. We really focused in on spending less and utilizing the savings programs where we could.  We had a total of $109.44 saved/earned across all programs. Below is how we did in each program this month, and the total amount saved in the program since I started tracking.

Really focusing on planning our our purchases and buying discounted giftcards is again the biggest. We utilize script cards because they are available everyday our our kids school, and we have access to vendors we cant find online at Cardcash or Cardpool. Of course if there is a big difference I will buy cards off Cardcash/Cardpool/Giftcard granny etc.   We are lucky enough to have some great categories we take advantage of.

Swagbucks

Bringing in over $22 from Swagbucks was a nice surprise. I don’t think this will continue, it was a combination of welcome and shopping bonuses.

Ebates

Continues to reward for consistency. I do catch myself forgetting to click through and I have missed several potential rebates. I always seem to remember right after I have paid. Remember this is a prime stacking oppertunity, buy discounted gift cards, and the shop through Ebates. Twice the savings on one transaction.

Remember to watch for those pending receipts. I recently noticed an old hotel stay didn’t clear and submitted a ticket to get reimbursed. Ebates was great and promptly fixed the issue, but remember its your money, make sure you get your credits.

Crypto Faucets:

Not much growth this month. In fact I am pretty happy to be flat after the price volatility seen across BTC, ETH, DOGE, DASH and LTC.  I will continue this, and move towards reporting the details weekly. Right now I envision running this a year to see the results.

Digital Coupons:

Not surprising my digital coupons round out the bottom, but for taking a few pics of my receipts its fine with me. Ibotta, Checkout51, Fetch Rewards, and Kellogs Family Rewards.

Conclusion

Not a bad effort to start the year, considering I have additional pending purchases for a hotel stay booked via Ebates. I hope to see my discount rate go up across all purchases in 2018 while really trying to drive down the amount we spend. I will be perfectly content to save fewer dollars, as long as I am saving a bigger percentage of a small number. Let me know if you have any tricks or tips you use to get better discounts.

Crypto Faucet Project – After the Crash

What happened to the faucet claims with the massive decline in coin prices?

I wanted to post a quick mid month update, a little lighter on the data side from my previous posts.

As you can see in the graph below, things got a little ugly on the valuation side. I got pushed back down to $18.81. Prices took a sharp decline and dragged the portfolio basically flat to the end of December. Since I am doing this experiment for the long play, I actually like a price decline.

Even though the value is down, my balances are still growing, and actually faster now. a 40% dip in price is a ~40% increase in the faucet rates. My average claim rates are up, just take a look at my my avg BTC, table below. I moved my avereage claim from ~25 satoshi to 32+ satoshi each claim. My average is also dropping because with the increase claim rate, I have increased my claim frequency, not letting the faucets billed as high before claiming.

One sad note, I found out I can not go back to Jan 1 in my coinpot BTC I can only get back to partial 1/4/18 data. It will make my end of month analysis a little tougher.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.

Optimize Savings – function stacking your way to greater discounts.

Its not enough to just buy something one sale. I am compelled to stack discounts/rewards for 4,5,6+ layers. Stacking discounts is one of the best ways to really take advantage and rake in the savings.

Here is an example of a recent purchase of a new pair of basketball shoes. I have needed a pair of shoes for a few months but had not found a deal yet. Here is a breakdown on all of the savings for my new basketball shoes.

  • Flash Sale: The biggest savings and where the majority will stop.
  • Discounted Gift Cards:I already had a card from script, but the discount is limited to 8%. I have seen cards in the past as high as 16% off on Cardcash, or Cardpool, etc but are not always available on short notice.
  • Ebates: It was only 1.5% this night, but it ranges from 1.5% to 10% regularly. Something to monitor for if your item isn’t likely to go on sale.
  • Dicks Scorecard: Typical retail rewards program. 1pt for every $1 spent. 300 points is worth a $10 store credit.

Overall the savings were $40.76 at a nice 51% savings rate. By waiting for a sale, and jumping through a few more hoops, we saved an additional $5.78.

December Savings Program Updates – $86.26 Saved

In December a fair number of the programs we were using to save money really took off. We had a total of $86.26 saved/earned across all programs. Below is how we did in each program this month, and the total amount saved in the program since I started tracking.

At over $57, Script Gift Cards ( buying gift cards and getting a % back off kids tuition) is again the biggest. We have really focused in on this for the majority of our purchases as long as the discounted rates are on par with cardpool/cardcash. It has the added benefit of delaying certain impulse purchases that we decided were not actually necessary.

Bringing in over $11 claiming from the Crytpo Currency Faucets was my second biggest area for December.r.  Click here to read more about it.

Ebates continues to reward for consistency. I do catch myself forgetting to click through and I have missed several potential rebates. I always seem to remember right after I have paid.

Digital Coupons: Not surprising my digital coupons round out the bottom, but for taking a few pics of my receipts its fine with me. Ibotta, Checkout51, Fetch Rewards, and Kellogs Family Rewards.

Month 2 of the Crypto Faucet Experiment

This is my second month into the experiment although, it is the first full month on most of the faucets. I did branch out in a few additional programs. Here is a list of the 9 faucets I was using in December.

I will break down my earnings, claims and other details by currency and faucet.

Here are the lifetime earnings for each faucet and earning mechanism. The only faucet in December with any affiliate earnings is Freebitco.in. 1 referral for .00000418 Btc. This amount is included in the totals below.

Everything looks as expected with claim amounts are falling due to the rising prices.

I have highlighted my first big mistake. Take a close look at Freebitco.in. At the end of November I had 13,000 satoshi, and at the end of December I only had 3211 satoshi. I was trying to win between 500-1000 Satoshi each day playing Hi/Lo with a goal of being positive across lifetime bets. I ran into 15 low numbers in a row and busted over 18,000 satoshi (worth $2.50 on 12/31/17) Play Hi/Lo with extreme caution.

The graph below tries to remove the price volatility from my faucet claims results by using a static prices based on the price of the first day I started to claim from that faucet.

So, at the end of two months, of faucet work I have a total value of $18.51. Without the pump in price I would have had a value of $7.32. Here is how the value breaks down by currency. Thanks Doge for the huge pump!

Here is the breakdown from activity – faucet claim, offers, bonuses.

I look forward to continuing this experiment in for a 3rd month in January.  I want to look into the CoinPot wallet conversion between currencies, and attempt a withdraw in January. Please let me know if have any questions below or if you want see the data in a different way.

First Month of Cypto Faucet Claims

One of the reasons I started this was because I wanted to fight the feeling that it was too late. If only I had started a few months, or years prior I could be rich off the faucet claims alone! I wanted to investigate  if claiming from Cypto Faucets could still be worth it, even after the tremendous run up in 2017.  I started with a few faucets I found referenced in a few YouTube videos I watched and grew from there. Below I will summarize my experience from November 8th 2017 until November 30th 2017. Through November I had ZERO referrals across all faucets, so the amounts below are only from my efforts. The links below are referrals links, and I will track referral claims to report if I get any.

I started with Bonus Bit Coin and Freebitco.in (although I may have started Freebitco.ina little earlier but I didn’t track it. Bonus Bit Coin uses CoinPot as a Micro Wallet to collect the small claims until your balance is large enough to send to your wallet address.

While in Coinpot early on I noticed there were other faucets that paid into their ecosystem, so I decided to utilize those faucets as well. They now have wallets for BitCoin(BTC), Dash(DASH), Litecoin(LTC), BitCoin Cash(BCH), and Dogecoin. I grew into claiming faucets from MoonBitCoin, MoonDash, MoonLiteCoin, MoonDogeCoin, Bonus Bit Coin, BitFun.

Currency Faucet Total Payouts Total Currency Avg Claim
BTC Bit FunFaucet 238 .0010082 .00000042
BTC Bonus BitcoinDaily 396 .0020357 .00000051

Dash CoinPot Mining 169 .00127128 .00000942

Doge Moon Dogecoin 150 254.96 1.69973333
LTC MoonLitecoin 168 .00561442 .00003342

As you can see, each faucet is slightly different for claim size and frequency. I will break down each faucet for claims/offers/bonus etc.  Freebitco.in does not have supporting claim data due to the massive amount of Hi/LO played trying to build my balance.

The graph below tries to remove the price volatility from my faucet claims results by using a static prices based on the price of the first day I started to claim from that faucet.

Results:

For 23 days of claims, the total value of the portfolio is $6.58. Not bad for under a month. Even if the price of the cryptos was flat it would have had a value of $4.66. This is well worth continuing the experiment for another month.

November Savings Programs Update

For the month of November,  all active savings programs earned a total of $78.69.

The biggest area was savings via Script Gift Cards. This was a combination of normal spending, and increased spending on Christmas gifts.
